Over the past few days I have been making horn brackets Started with strips of metal cut like this and ended up with these, the left is the trial one with loads of mistakes, right is an original Royal Enfield one the two in the middle, one for me and one for Neil very pleased with them Got to work out whether they should be plated or painted - left one has loads of mistakes - trial one

A significant step forward today, the Northern Paint Master splashed a bit of paint on the tin work For comparison with a really good GT I found on the web the colour is spot on

A while back I posted these found in Neil’s Garage for the GT250 Well a bit of work Then stripping and painting Then I spotted these NOS Girling Springs on EBay Thursday night - few conversations with the seller on Friday they are mine - Think they will approve the look no end - Can’t wait for them to arrive

I am always one to find out a bit of history, the GT250 has a Sunderland registration plate BR so I have been doing a bit of detective work Yesterday I spoke with the former Chairman of the Royal Enfield Owners Club, I had written to the dating officer who could not find any record of the GT leaving the factory so he passed it on to Graham Apparently in the last days of RE it was not uncommon not documenting the dispatches, Graham over the years has built up a history of undocumented bikes, by frame and engine number so mine has been added to the list. The conclusion from the discussion is as the bike was registered in Sunderland then the only dealer it would have been shipped to would be Tom Cowies Cowies expanded on car dealership and exited motorcycles, in 1997 they rebranded Arriva at this time they had bought some bus franchises, 2002 Arriva sold of the car dealerships so in a way every time I see an Arriva Train or Bus it all started from the profit from my GT
