I've done zero work on carbs, so have my L plates up on this section of the parts book...
Just a passing thought, 450DX Carbs on a CB400N, would they work, whilst the CB400N carbs are off getting a scrub and fixing the float valves etc ?

they should work ok (ish), depends how fussy you are. fuel economy might suffer a little (dx carbs being jetted to suit the larger capacity) and they will probably pop and bang (in the exhaust) on the over run. I put my own 450sc carbs on the 400 thing and these are the things that happened, but it otherwise ran quite nicely

Thanks for that, I don't expect to be going far with the DX carbs fitted, but that is good to know , and will also test the "from a running bike" DX carbs. (My parking space garage is only about 50m from the house, but a hilly 600m by road, as any work will be done is done at the house). Useful for when existing running gear is swapped out whilst the existing stuff is overhauled.
