Could somebody confirm the standard front/rear wheel and tyre sizes for my CB400N . I was kindly given the front sizes in a previous post for wheels. I acquired 4 spare wheels (I thought) when I got the bike which had a later front wheel on it (steel spokes and longer slots) but I find different hubs and one narrower front wheel too. Also one of these front wheels was a 250n I think, it has a blank disc on the right side but to fit twin discs entails removing those spiked through bolts on the spokes.

tyre sizes in newer sizes I go for 90/90-19 front and I'v just fitted a 100/80-18 rear (link in general discussion board) the blanking plate from memory is held on with the disc bolts, if its held on with the pinned (do not dismantle) bolts then I'd say its a wheel off something else, a pic or two would probably help

I was going to buy another maxxis but they seem in short supply, I'd go for avon roadriders but I had a yorkshire upbringing and tend to balk at the price, the one I fitted seems pretty good so far, sits better on the rim too with the slightly lower profile

and are those "do not remove" pinned bolts a def no go or is that just workshop manual speak when we were not scavenging bikes to make bikes!. New bolts with nylocs, or threadlock or even a nut with a dab of weld being possible options?

New bolts with nylocs, or threadlock or even a nut with a dab of weld being possible options? opinion only I'd say dont do it, I'v made parts for production lines (genuine, not pattern) and was authorised as a QC. they look to me like they were layered into position, then torqued up at the same time (jig thingy with x amount of sockets on all with a preset torque) and you cant reasonably replicate that one bolt at a time with a torque wrench. the other big question is were the rivets put in before or after the bolts? it all bears relevance. I'd say wheels are out there for safety and peace of mind buy another 'right' one

Someone on the Forum sent a set to be refurbished- the supplier took them to bits and could not get them back together - don’t do it

I certainly dont fancy taking the rivets out! it was just the hub through bolts I wondered about but suspect you are right !!
