could anyone tell me the difference between a DR8ES plug and a DR8ESL please?
I'v tried looking up charts online and ended up slightly more ignorant as I cant make head or tail of them

could well be, the cb450s uses the DR8ESL and it would have had the later type flat top pistons, on those grounds probably not a good idea to stick them in the 400 thing

I'll check the ESL's when they arrive, I thought the other thing it might refer to is possibly a heat code? all the 450 variations had oil coolers as far as I know

Projected nose etc....but that was way back in 1976 so Memory may be a bit clouded....see back of NGK spark plug catalogue for complete explanation.

yep thats the very chart I was struggling with , if I'm reading it right (probably not) then the L might mean half heat, I'll check the reach when they arrive and give them a whirl just to rule them out and then probably use the ESL's in the cafe racer engine
