As the title says really, how do you remove the centre stand?
I am trying to remove it, to clean up and repaint, but, I can't get it off
Have read the Haynes manual, but, that just talks about examination, not removal
Any help woukd be greatly appreciated

Hi Here are the main components of the stand. Remove the spindle from the right side after loosening the bolt and removing the bracket.

Quick question about the main stand.
I have found that once it's cleaned up, painted and reinstalled (ie as new), the main stand bounces up so much when moving the bike off, that it hits the brake torsion bar quite hard. I've already got scratches in it.
Is there a way to dampen this? Or should I just glue a piece of rubber or foam somewhere? What has anyone else done?

It should hit the rubber stopper mounted on the left silencer.

It depends on your exhaust system. Twin pipe- the left or near side pipe should have a rubber under it to pick this up. If motad, you should have a bracket dropping down from the right off side rear foot peg and exhaust securing bolt that has a rubber on the end doing the same thing. I suspect you have motad or the damage would be on the exhaust. You probably have no bracket.
