Bloody hell, will this rain ever stop, what can I do 🤔 Well the old man wants saddlebags fitted, obviously I don't want the super expensive ones, so I bought some generic ones which looks nice, so how to fit, I must fashion suitable brackets which fit to existing bolt positions, so with the help of a welding rod a shape was formed This shape was taken to work and 10mm bar was bent accordingly, a couple of mounting plates were punched to accept the bar but not welded so I can position and drill, works well So tomorrow the bracket will be welded and the plates will be shaped to look nice and mounting points added for the bag, then powder coated black, then just the small matter of repeating for the other side. And all because the weather's shit 😄

One side holds a bottle, the other side holds a terminator spinning style loading action shotgun for problem traffic 😯 Anyway back at the Forge, the plates have been welded and fixing pins also welded on The vertical pin locates on the loop on the bottom of the bag The strap then goes around the grab rail and down where the eyelets locate on the angled pins and is held in place by a plastic spacer with r clips through the pins. Clips not attached because Amazon haven't delivered them yet. So, nice and secure and quick release, now just the other one to make, then powdercoat the buggers, then it might stop raining 🤔

And fabrication complete, drilled the angle pins, not easy with a 2.5mm drill especially as it's rebar, ooops 😐 Made a plastic spacer thing instead of using a couple of washers, easier and less likely to disappear if I drop it and a couple of stainless clips. Next week I have to do it all again for the other side, then off into the powdercoat room, at least it's warm in there 🤗 Total cost for all this, £60 for the bags and a bit of time 🙂

Sounds like a good idea Sir Duffer, in other news the saddle bags work well Unfortunately a problem, took the bike out today got a couple of miles down the road and it konks out, felt like I ran out of fuel, but no plenty fuel, quick check, nothing obvious, phoned the bike shop and he brought a van and took me home, I put the bloody thing in the garage and took the Blade instead, making the most of a rain free day. So now back in the garage beer hall, inspection time, and well the fuel pump refuses to prime on ignition, oh dear, I had noticed the pump sounded noisy previously but had nothing to gauge it against but it was probably trying to say I'm fooked. The good news it's an easy job, the bad news is a new one is £500, fook me 😯, I've made an offer of £400, but if it's £500 then so be it, now where's me beer, while I can still afford it 😄
