Sometimes Mr Honda you go a step too far. Recently I had to move a few bikes around in my shed and found the CBX550 had sticky brakes at the front so time to get it on the bench to sort them out. I believe the idea was enclose the discs to improve braking in the wet. This resulted in a very complex braking system that in my opinion is an absolute maintenance pain in the bottom. Images of said callipers and discs.

I sort of het honda's thinking but in reality brakes got better when pads and discs were more closely matched in terms of materials. looks like they had cooling issues too judging by the vents

I thought they worked very well on the VT250FD, but I never did the brakes. CBX anti-dive looks complex ( DDmoto have a NOS CBX stanchion under Ā£100, not sure what side)

Yes the anti dive is complex, fortunately it is working well so Iāll leave well alone. Callipers all stripped, seals were in good condition just needed cleaning, itās all back together now and wheel turns and stops aS it should š the downpipes weāre interesting similar to the 400 four but with a twist having twin silencers

that was one of my regrets with my 400/4, I needed a new exhaust but couldnt afford a genuine one, went with a micron system but lost those lovely sweeping downpipes

The 4-1 exhaust on the F2 550 was reason I bought one new in 1977
