Hey guys, my 79 250 had tokico pads in, now since the clocks only show 6k I'm trying to decide if its genuine miles or not.
Pads have JB JP 8 D FE stamped at the top
9D252 printed underneath that and tokico stamped at the bottom.
Here's the question are they original?
Anyone know?

They certainly could be the originals. Tokico is the manufacturer of the actual caliper so it is credible that the pads may also be the OEM fitted ones and not the more readily available in UK replacements, such as EBC etc.
I did google all those numbers together with the manufacturer name but have drawn a blank.

Thanks nick, I did do a search myself and drew a blank, however I didn't know the caliper was tokico.
I'm willing to bet they are the original pads, there's to many things that are showing very little wear or use for the miles to not be correct.

Interesting, post a picture. Is the friction material slightly greenish, and the red wear line on the pads, if my memory is correct ?

Not sure I would trust 40 year old pads - I would replace them

Not sure I would trust 40 year old pads - I would replace them Agreed, safety critical as are other brake parts, but not "concourse" condition if that's your bent. I bought my superdream recently as it is tax and MOT exempt, will make a good hack as they are ok on back roads, and I had one ( although not for long, too slow ) back in the day. The 400 was better, but so was the gt250 Suzi and yamahhhhhha rd250. The superdream does seem to have survived well, but is that because people just got tired of them and dumped them in there sheds, until now ? Anyway, they are good on back roads and can be thrown about, just like before. Modern brake components like better pads and braided hoses will improve the front brake somewhat, as I don't remember them been up to much even when new ?

Interesting you opting for Braided Hoses - I had a new set made recently in original style for SME that I am currently restoring - Hopefully the more modern materials will be an improvement - probably not as improved as your braided

Even some of the new brake pads are suspect, with a reduced friction material rubbing area ?
The friction material must have better coefficient of friction to compensate.
The pads in mine seem to be full friction area.
Don't know the make yet but research seems to suggest they may be Armstrong pads or maybe girling ?
I dont really care what make they are so long as they work well, as this bike is just a hack bike.
