Thanks chaps. Another unplanned purchase. Two options, either flip it or put some work into it. At a minimum will need new boots, carbs off and clean possibly rebuild, both brake systems front and rear need overhaul. The general cosmetics look a bit tired but I think the 'patina' suits this one well.
Hmm, what to do?

A Yam has been a long time coming but expected - minimum expense and flip IMHO

Halco (no longer in business, sadly) bore and stroke kit, take it out to the full 1040cc (I kid you not) and go drag racing with it

to be fair the Halco kit was mostly developed for drag racing and drag bikes are always 100% reliable and never go bang ps I love the look of that tracker, if only it had spoked wheels...

Okay quick update. So I am getting some interest in the bike already through a friend of a friend, even if I decide to go the quick flip route.
But also, I have been doing some initial 'up to date' cost calculations to see what kind of wedge it would take to get a bike in this kind of condition, off the road since 1988 just roadworthy (with no costly NOS or cosmetics) in Los Angeles in 2024.
So far, here we go:
Tyres - IRC or Duro brand in the correct vintage pattern sizes, best price I can find are approx $85 each delivered for the front and rear so on that we are looking at $170 (approx £134).
Then we have fitment which I have been quoted at $45 each rim to fit so we have $90 on that (approx £70).
Brake master cylinder kits front and rear - pattern items are coming in at approximately $70 delivered (approx £55). I'd say genuine Yamaha would be cost prohibitive on this project.
Total so far = £259 Not including any of my 'dead' labour costs in this because you just can't (removal of the wheels to take to the tire fitter etc).
More soon.....
